Flash Programming

What is a Flash based device?

Flash memory, data-storage medium used with electronic devices (such as computers). Flash memory is an electronically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) form of computer memory and so does not need a power source to keep the data, differently from previous forms of data storage.

What is Flash Programming?

Flash Programming Algorithms are a piece of software to download or erase applications to Flash devices. A Pack with Device Support usually have preset Flash algorithms for programming the devices that are supported by the DFP.

How does a Flash Programmer works?

A flash programmer is a device that lets us program the flash memory of a microcontroller. By program, t's possible to transfer a program which has been written and collected, and send it the microcontroller for the microcontroller to perform the program.

Why to Program the Flash Memory of Microcontrollers?

Programming it into flash has the benefit of saving the program once the microcontroller has been programmed successfully, even if the power is shot off from the microcontroller (intentionally or accidently).

The benefits of Flash Memory and Flash drivers:

Here are some of the biggest advantages of flash storage, which you won’t find as often with other kinds of storage devices:

  • Increased Durability - Flash drives are solid-state drives that are less vulnerable to damage from drops or shocks, differently from hard drives, that are made of aluminum or glass platters that spin as data is read.

  • Maximum Portability - Flash drives are easy to store in convenient places such as key chains and pockets for increased portability because they are considerably smaller than other types of data storage devices.

  • Plenty of Storage Capacity – Nowadays, flash drives offer a lot more storage space than older ones, with many of them being able to storage up to 128 GB at a maximum.

  • Fast Transfer Speeds – Today's flash devices have a transfer rate of speed that other storage devices can't match. USB 3.0 devices have a transfer rate of up to 4.8 GB per second, which even the fastest hard-disk drives can't reach.

  • Compatibility with Many Devices - The USB interface has become one of the best ways to connect flash drives to almost any device.

  • Use Flash Drives as Promotional Materials - Flash drives are ideal for serving as marketing materials for brand awareness thanks to their affordability and availability for bulk purchase.
